worse than a crack habit

spent 5 years building mine from spare parts. was worth the wait. most powerful sounding synth/workstation i have. even tracking into it imparts a very powerful and forward sound. no need for this review the countless albums made on it are enough. if you have disposable income and time to blow..... get one.

ultra stable, very flexible, superb sounding dual vco.

I picked this up along with a Make Noise DPO, The 3020 is by far my favorite osc at the moment. sonically i could compare it to serge negative slew ( patched as a vco ) with out any blending the sound is very balanced, mids are as present as the highs and lows. It pairs very well with the tiptop prophet filter/Dsi Curtis filter responds well to heavy saturation, unto this point nothing had been able to compete with serge neg slew for bass until i purchased the 3020. very fat, tight and focused.

It gets interesting with its cross modulation options, pitch and pwm are present as well as cv input for fm, blend, pwm, etc the standards really. one issue i have with it is there is no cv inputs to control the cross modulation between osc 1 and 2 as well as pulse width. Its nothing major, the sounds get moving quite well with out but if this was present the 3020 would do everything aside from slay dragons.

the XOR or digital exclusive output is fantastic (its not digital, its a square wave output) and creates a very good, metallic ring mod type timbre. All things considered i could not live with out mine anymore, its a very stable osc with extremely professional timbre and sonic creation possibilities. (kilpatrick has just announced his new "phenol" synth. its fully modular desktop dual osc, dual filter, dual env, with voltage multiplier and divider with clock sync. uses banana jacks, 1 volt standard. for $850 msrp)

FWIW....
