Beware the Control Knob

This is the only pedal I've been actively angry about. If the control (feedback) knob is dimed out when you flip to a flanger setting, God help you. I had headphones on at a moderate volume and it lit up so fast that my ears have been damaged ever since.

Punches above its weight.

The quality of this bass surpasses its price. Credit to the builders in Indonesia. I prefer this over some basses that cost double. Sound wise, this has a pleasing combination of warmth, clarity, and presence. The maple neck feels better to me than most other Squiers, and for an agathis body it resonates well. No complaints about the rosewood fingerboard or medium jumbo frets. As for the SS, I enjoy that you can maneuver notes quickly at this length, and in this case without sacrificing tone. For a bass it is on the light side at 5lbs, and has the appearance of an all black MIJ Fender. My only complaint, really, would be about the controls. Perhaps it's because this was built in 2012, but they feel a bit flimsy. I would recommend replacing/upgrading the electronics. (Review based on Model# 0328800506)

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Brought me closer to my ideal clean vintage tone than any other pedal.

After trying different basses, running them through SansAmp pedals, then the HX Stomp, and endlessly tweaking EQ, I was never able to remotely achieve the DI bass tone I was chasing. Everyone likes a different bass tone—so for context, my ideal tone would be Dave Richmond's work on Serge Gainsbourg's Melody Nelson. I thought maybe it was just my playing style, but then the Bassrig '64 got me way closer than anything else by far. Paired with a nice compressor like the Cali76 Compact Bass, I give this gear the chef's kiss. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is that the cab sim is only available using the XLR output, and the Drive knob is only usable for me up to 10 o'clock.
