Originally purchased from Luthier Phil Petillo for $185, after being owned by a record company. A hallmark of this guitar is how it was routed for 4 pickups, giving it an exceptionally light weight.

In an interview by Dave Marsh from February 1981, highlighting the the E Street Band's equipment, Bruce's use of "four pre-CBS Fender Bassman amps, ca. 1958-1962," is confirmed, indicating that one such amp, a Fender 'Narrow Panel Tweed' Bassman 5F6, is utilized onstage under the drum riser.
In an interview by Dave Marsh from February 1981, highlighting the the E Street Band's equipment, Bruce is mentioned as having used "two Peavey Vintage amps (imitation Bassmans) -- one of each is used onstage under the drum riser."
