Effects Processors

Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster

Avg price: $3,440.84

In the Video (link above), at about 2:50, Brian can be heard telling about how he met Rory Gallagher, who told him to take a Vox AC30 and a RANGE MASTER Boost and turn it all the way up. https://guitar.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Brian-May-Vox-cover-3.jpg On this photo of Mays Rig you can see the Booster standing on the top of his AC30. He used it on the Queen I and II albums (maybe on later ones too) and on early tours. Later he used Greg Fryer Custum Made Treble Boosters.

Brian May's Red Special

Avg price: $899.99

As evidenced by this photo from a 2017 performance at London's O2 Arena (courtesy Wikipedia), and per this article from Guitariego, dated March 19, 2020.

Though there have been many replicas and reproduction made over the years, original Red Special, the actual guitar he built from scratch with his father when Brian was just a teenager, is still Brian's main guitar.

This is one of the few homemade guitars famous enough to have it's own Wikipedia page.

Strings used by John Deacon on Queen

Strings

Rotosound RS77LD Monel Flatwound Bass Strings (45-105)

Avg price: $46.36

John Deacon used flatwounds for all of his bass guitars, and Rotosound was his number one choice! Rotosound being one of the top string companies at the time in England, many artist used these strings. In the early years, he used Rotosound RS66 Swing Bass roundwound strings, as heard on the self-titled album, Queen. Because his playing style was either hard finger picking or normal plectrum picking, he decided to use heavy guage strings to accomidate.
