About

Rock Aid Armenia was a humanitarian musical project formed by some of the most iconic figures in rock music to support relief efforts for the 1988 Armenian earthquake. Initiated by international charity campaigner Jon Dee, the lineup featured a stellar cast of artists, including Bryan Adams, Ritchie Blackmore, Bruce Dickinson, Geoff Downes, Keith Emerson, Ian Gillan, David Gilmour, Tony Iommi, Alex Lifeson, Brian May, Paul Rodgers, Chris Squire, and Roger Taylor. This ensemble was primarily assembled to record a reimagined version of Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water," bringing together the sounds of progressive rock, hard rock, and heavy metal. Their collaboration took place at the historic Metropolis Studios in London, providing a unique blend of talents for a noble cause.
