About
Arkaea is a formidable force in the industrial and groove metal scenes, formed by former Fear Factory members Christian Olde Wolbers (guitar) and Raymond Herrera (drums). After their tenure with the industrial metal pioneers, they joined forces with Threat Signal members Jon Howard (vocals) and Pat Kavanagh (bass) to create a new sonic entity that combines the aggressive edge of groove metal with industrial nuances. Their music is a modern evolution of the electro-metal sound, known for its stripped-down aggression and relentless energy.
How to Sound Like Arkaea
Arkaea's sound is characterized by a tight, aggressive sonic foundation that blends the industrial metal's mechanical precision with the groove-laden heaviness of modern metal. The guitar tones, often delivered through the Krank Krankenstein Head, are raw and powerful, complemented by the rhythmic precision of Herrera's drumming. Olde Wolbers' use of extended-range guitars, like the Jackson COW 7 String, enables a deep, resonant sound that drives the band's dynamic compositions. The bass tones, bolstered by equipment such as the Ampeg SVT-2 Pro Head, provide a thunderous low-end that underpins the band's aggressive, yet meticulously crafted, soundscapes.
