Ataxia is a rock supergroup known for its experimental and psychedelic soundscapes, blending elements of indie rock, post-punk, and synth rock. Formed by three influential musicians, the group features John Frusciante (guitars, vocals), renowned for his work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers; Joe Lally (bass, vocals), from the post-hardcore band Fugazi; and Josh Klinghoffer (drums, synthesizer, vocals), who also played with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Ataxia's music is characterized by its spontaneous and off-the-cuff style, reminiscent of the improvisational energy of Public Image Limited's Metal Box. Their sessions yielded the album Automatic Writing, which showcases the band's unique blend of lengthy, roaming tracks with a free-flowing approach to rock music.
