About
Battle of Mice was an American post-metal supergroup known for their intense and emotionally charged soundscapes. The band was formed in 2005 when vocalist Julie Christmas and guitarist/keyboardist Josh Graham met during a tour in Austin, Texas. The lineup was completed by Joel Hamilton on drums, Tony Maimone on bass, and Joe Tomino on drums for select tracks. Their music is a fusion of post-rock, doom metal, and sludge metal, characterized by a blend of dark atmospheres and raw power. The group's name originates from a saying by Alexander the Great, reflecting their complex and confrontational sonic approach.

Battle of Mice's sound is an amalgamation of aggressive and haunting elements, with a focus on creating a visceral and immersive experience. The music often weaves between melodic and chaotic textures, employing both crushing riffs and ethereal passages. Julie Christmas's vocals add a layer of emotional vulnerability, ranging from fragile whispers to powerful screams. Josh Graham's guitar work, combined with ambient keyboard layers, contributes to the band's dense and textured sound. Drums by Joe Tomino are known for their dynamic contrast, using both electronic and acoustic elements, such as the Roland SPD-SX Sampling Pad, to heighten the band's dramatic intensity.
