About

Sublime with Rome is a dynamic musical group blending elements of hip hop, reggae, alternative rock, dub, and reggae rock into their unique sound. Emerging from California in 2010, the band was formed by Rome Ramirez (vocals, guitar), Eric Wilson (bass), and Bud Gaugh (drums), with the latter eventually replaced by Josh Freese and later Joe Tomino. As a continuation of the legacy of the original Sublime, Sublime with Rome carries on the spirit of their predecessors while infusing fresh energy and creativity into their music.

How to Sound Like Sublime with Rome

To emulate Sublime with Rome’s eclectic sound, musicians should focus on a blend of rhythmic, reggae-infused grooves and alternative rock textures. The guitar tones often feature a clean yet punchy presence, achieved through instruments like a 1996 Fender Stratocaster '62 Reissue Japan, paired with effects such as the MXR EVH90 EVH Phase 90 for added dimension. The bass lines, driven by an Ashdown ABM-1200-EVO IV Head, provide a solid, melodic foundation that complements the laid-back yet dynamic drum beats. The overall vibe is one of relaxed yet vibrant energy, inviting listeners into a world where genres blend seamlessly.
