About

Breaks Co-op is a New Zealand-based musical group known for their eclectic blend of reggae, trip-hop, and downbeat electronica. Originally formed in Auckland by Hamish Clark and Zane Lowe in 1997, the group initially focused on a hip-hop-inspired sound. After a period of geographical dispersion, with Lowe relocating to the UK to pursue a career in radio and television, the band reunited and expanded with the addition of Andy Lovegrove as an instrumentalist, producer, and vocalist. This trio format allowed Breaks Co-op to explore new musical territories, culminating in their critically acclaimed album The Sound Inside.
