Opshop is a prominent kiwi rock band hailing from Auckland, New Zealand. Formed in 2002, the group originally consisted of Jason Kerrison (vocals), Tim Skedden (guitar), Bobby Kennedy (drums), Matt Treacy (guitar), and Ian Munro (bass). Following some lineup changes, bassist Clint Harris joined the band, solidifying their core as a four-piece ensemble. Opshop gained widespread recognition with their 2004 single "No Ordinary Thing" and continued to build their reputation with albums like You Are Here and Second Hand Planet. Their music is characterized by emotive lyrics and a blend of rock elements that resonate with a broad audience.

How to Sound Like Opshop

Opshop’s sound is characterized by warm, melodic guitar lines and dynamic arrangements. Their rock foundation is often complemented by clean, articulate guitar tones, which can be achieved through the use of modulation effects and analog delay pedals to add texture and depth. The band's guitars typically have a crisp, resonant quality, contributing to the overall clarity of their tracks. The bass and drums provide a tight, rhythmic backbone, often with an energetic yet controlled drive that enhances the melodic elements without overpowering them. Opshop’s production techniques favor a balanced mix, ensuring each instrument's presence is felt, contributing to their accessible and polished sound.
