About
Cloud Control is a dynamic indie rock group originating from the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia. Known for their eclectic blend of alternative rock, indie rock, and psychedelic rock, the band was formed by Heidi Lenffer (keyboards, vocals), Ulrich Lenffer (drums, percussion), Alister Wright (vocals, guitar), and Jeremy Kelshaw (bass, vocals). Their debut album Bliss Release propelled them into the spotlight, earning critical acclaim and several accolades. Despite lineup changes, such as the departure of bassist Jeremy Kelshaw in 2015, Cloud Control has continued to evolve, maintaining their reputation for creating atmospheric and engaging music.
How to Sound Like Cloud Control
Cloud Control's sound is characterized by its dreamy, layered textures and melodic complexity. They achieve this through lush vocal harmonies and intertwining guitar and synth lines that create a rich, enveloping soundscape. The use of analog delay pedals and reverb effects contributes to their expansive sonic environment, allowing for swirling psychedelic elements that define much of their music. Their arrangements often juxtapose crisp, rhythmic drum patterns with smooth, melodic bass lines, providing a balanced foundation that supports the band's ethereal qualities. To approximate Cloud Control's aesthetic, musicians might focus on creating textured, ambient layers while experimenting with dynamic modulation and time-based effects to enhance the overall depth and mood of their compositions.
