Eat Static is an innovative electronic music group hailing from Frome, England, known for its exploration of psychedelic trance, psytrance, and psychill genres. Originally formed in 1989 as a side project of the band Ozric Tentacles, Eat Static was created by Merv Pepler (keyboards, drum patterns, samplers), Joie Hinton (keyboards, samplers), and Steve Everitt (synths). Over time, their music evolved from performing before and after Ozric Tentacles shows to establishing a distinct identity of their own, marked by vibrant electronic landscapes and a fascination with extraterrestrial themes. The group’s early work on the Alien label and subsequent releases on Planet Dog, such as the album Abduction, laid the groundwork for a prolific career characterized by a blend of sci-fi aesthetics and eclectic sonic influences.

Eat Static's sound is characterized by its cosmic and exploratory nature, merging intricate electronic patterns with ethereal and ambient textures.
