Electrelane is a dynamic indie rock band hailing from Brighton, England, known for their eclectic blend of post-rock, Krautrock, and indie elements. Formed in 1998, the group initially comprised of Verity Susman (vocals, keyboard, guitar), Emma Gaze (drums), Rachel Dalley (bass), and Mia Clarke (guitar), who joined after replacing original guitarist Debbie Ball. In 2004, Dalley departed and was replaced by Ros Murray on bass. Electrelane's music is characterized by its experimental approach, integrating vintage equipment like the Farfisa organ with modern production techniques to craft a sound that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

Electrelane's sound is a compelling mix of textured ambience and driving rhythms, capturing a fusion of melodic intricacy and rhythmic propulsion. Their music often features the ethereal tones of Verity Susman’s synthesizers, like the Korg MicroKORG and Roland Juno-60, which add layers of atmospheric depth. Meanwhile, Mia Clarke's guitar work, utilizing the Gibson SG Standard through a Vox AC30 amp, delivers crisp, vibrant tones, enhanced by the Boss DD-3 Digital Delay for a spacious and haunting soundscape. The interplay between these elements, alongside Emma Gaze’s precise drumming, creates a sonic experience that is both expansive and intimate, resonating with the raw energy and intricacy of their influences.
