About
Emmure is an American metal band known for their aggressive and confrontational sound, blending elements of metalcore, deathcore, nu-metalcore, and rap metal. Originating from New Fairfield, Connecticut, the band was formed by lead vocalist Frankie Palmeri, whose intense lyrical delivery has been a defining feature of their music. Over the years, Emmure has seen several lineup changes, with the current roster featuring Joshua Travis (guitar), known for his technical prowess and use of extended range guitars, Phil Lockett (bass), and Josh Miller (drums). Their music is characterized by heavy breakdowns, rapid-fire riffs, and a potent mix of genres that keeps their sound both fresh and ferocious.
How to Sound Like Emmure
Emmure's sonic landscape is intensely aggressive and rhythmically complex, characterized by crushing guitar tones and dynamic shifts that create a visceral listening experience. The use of extended range guitars, such as the ESP E-II MF-9 BABYMETAL Limited Edition, allows for deep, resonant low-end riffs that anchor the band's sonic assault. Guitarist Joshua Travis also employs the Fractal Axe-Fx II for versatile effects processing, enabling the band to seamlessly transition between bone-crushing breakdowns and intricate, djent-influenced passages. Their sound is further amplified by powerful amplifiers like the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier, delivering the raw, punchy tone essential to Emmure's relentless musical onslaught.
