About
GRP All-Star Big Band was a powerhouse ensemble formed under the GRP Records label, renowned for its slick, accessible jazz. The band emerged in 1992 as a conventional yet star-studded big band, spearheaded by label heads Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen. This jazz collective featured illustrious musicians, including trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, saxophonists Ernie Watts and Tom Scott, bassist John Patitucci, and guitarist Lee Ritenour, among others. While rooted in traditional jazz, the band's repertoire spans big band, Latin jazz, and modern jazz styles, offering vibrant renditions of jazz standards from the 1950s and '60s.
