About

Hinder is an American rock band hailing from Oklahoma City, formed in 2001. Known for their blend of alternative rock, post-grunge, and hard rock, Hinder's lineup features Cody Hanson (drums), Joe “Blower” Garvey (lead guitar), Mike Rodden (bass), and Marshal Dutton (vocals), who joined the group in 2015. With a career spanning over two decades, they rose to prominence with their hit "Lips of an Angel" from their 2005 debut album Extreme Behavior. This track solidified their place in the rock scene with its gritty yet melodic sound, embodying the band's ethos of defiance and resilience.

How to Sound Like Hinder

Hinder's sonic character is marked by an aggressive, yet melodic edge, combining the raw energy of post-grunge with the polished hooks of pop rock. Their guitar tones often lean towards the gritty and powerful, with Gibson Les Paul guitars delivering the thick, resonant sound that defines their rock anthems. The use of effects processors, like the Avid Eleven Rack, allows for a versatile range of tones, from searing leads to deep, driving rhythms. The rhythm section, anchored by Rodden's bass, provides a solid, punchy foundation, while Hanson's drumming injects an energetic drive. Together, these elements create a sound that's both dynamic and anthemic, appealing to fans of both classic and modern rock.
