Hope of the States was a British post-rock band formed in Chichester, England, in 2000. The group was known for their expansive and emotionally charged sound, blending elements of post-rock and orchestral rock. The band consisted of Sam Herlihy (vocals, guitar), Michael Hibbert (guitar), Simon Jones (bass), Mike Siddell (violin), and Paul Wilson (drums). Hope of the States released two acclaimed albums, The Lost Riots and Left, before disbanding in 2006. Their music is characterized by its grandiose arrangements and poignant lyrical themes, often drawing comparisons to the likes of Sigur Rós and Arcade Fire.
