About
Isles & Glaciers was a short-lived but impactful supergroup in the emo, screamo, and post-hardcore genres. Formed in 2008, the group brought together notable musicians from various bands, including Craig Owens (vocals) from Chiodos, Jonny Craig (vocals) from Dance Gavin Dance, and Vic Fuentes (vocals, guitar) from Pierce the Veil. The lineup was rounded out by Mike Fuentes (drums), also from Pierce the Veil, Matt Goddard (bass) from Chiodos, Brian Southall (guitar, keyboard) from The Receiving End of Sirens, and Nick Martin (guitar) from Underminded. Despite their brief existence, Isles & Glaciers left a lasting impression with their debut and only EP, The Hearts of Lonely People.
How to Sound Like Isles & Glaciers
Isles & Glaciers crafted a sound characterized by dynamic vocal interplay and layered instrumentation that teetered between aggression and melodicism. The band's music features soaring guitar riffs and crisp, explosive drumming that create a rich sonic tapestry. The use of the Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar by Vic Fuentes contributes to a bold, resonant tone, while his Marshall Super Lead 100-Watt Head adds a classic, high-gain warmth that complements the emotionally charged vocal performance. The powerful bass lines, enhanced by Matt Goddard's Ampeg SVT-4PRO 1200-Watt, provide a solid, driving force that anchors the sound, allowing the band's intricate melodies and intense rhythms to shine.
