How to Sound Like Keane

Keane's sound is characterized by its melodic richness and atmospheric depth, with a focus on piano and synth textures that create an expansive yet intimate listening experience. Tim Rice-Oxley's use of keyboards like the Roland Juno-106 and Fender Rhodes provides a warm, enveloping backdrop for Tom Chaplin's soaring vocals. The interplay of synths and acoustic elements is complemented by the restrained yet dynamic drumming of Richard Hughes and the solid bass lines of Jesse Quin. Effects such as the Roland RE-201 Space Echo enhance their sonic landscape, adding layers of depth and echo that contribute to the band's signature emotive sound.
