About
Krokus is a Swiss hard rock band known for its dynamic blend of rock, metal, and glam metal influences. Formed in 1974 in Solothurn, the band originally included Tommy Kiefer (guitar) and Chris Von Rohr (percussion). Over the years, the lineup evolved significantly, with Marc Storace (vocals), Fernando Von Arb (guitar), and Chris Von Rohr (now on bass) becoming central figures. Krokus gained international acclaim in the early 1980s with albums like Metal Rendez-Vous and Headhunter, establishing themselves as a powerhouse in European metal through their aggressive, straightforward sound.
How to Sound Like Krokus
Krokus' music is characterized by its raw, energetic guitar riffs and powerful, anthem-like vocals. Their sound is decidedly aggressive and rhythmic, reminiscent of early AC/DC, with a penchant for driving, fist-pumping rock anthems. Guitar tones are often sharp and cutting, achieved through the use of instruments like the Hamer "Scarab" Electric Guitar, favored by guitarist Fernando Von Arb. Amplifiers provide a gritty, tube-driven warmth that complements the band's hard-hitting style. The drums and bass lay a thunderous foundation, with a tight, relentless groove that propels the music forward, making Krokus's sound both powerful and enduring.
