About

Kingdom Come is a German hard rock band that emerged in the late 1980s, known for their powerful blend of metal, hard rock, and glam rock influences. Initially formed by Lenny Wolf (vocals), the band was often compared to Led Zeppelin due to their sonic similarities. The lineup has seen various changes over the years, but the original ensemble included Danny Stag (lead guitar), Rick Steier (rhythm guitar), Johnny B. Frank (bass), and James Kottak (drums). Their self-titled debut album and the hit single "Get It On" catapulted them to fame, leading to a spot on the Monsters of Rock tour. Despite facing a backlash for their Zeppelin-esque style, Kingdom Come continued to release music, primarily maintaining their presence in Germany.

How to Sound Like Kingdom Come

Kingdom Come's sound is characterized by heavy, riff-driven guitar work and a robust, arena-filling presence. Their music often features crunchy, overdriven guitar tones and soaring vocals that evoke a sense of grandeur and power, reminiscent of classic hard rock and glam metal. To achieve such a sound, guitars like the Yamaha RGZ 820R Plaid and amplifiers like the Mojave Dirty Boy are often employed, providing the necessary grit and sustain. Effects such as the Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups add warmth and depth, enhancing the melodic and dynamic range of their music. The resulting soundscape is one of energetic, driving rhythms and powerful melodic lines, capturing the essence of late 80s and early 90s arena rock.
