About

Murderdolls is an American horror punk and metal fusion band known for their theatrical flair and macabre themes. Originating in 2002, the band was initially formed by Joey Jordison (guitar, formerly of Slipknot) and Tripp Eisen (guitar, formerly of Static-X). They later recruited Wednesday 13 (vocals), Eric Griffin (bass), and Ben Graves (drums). Their music is a high-energy blend of alternative metal, industrial metal, nu metal, and horror punk, creating a sound that is both aggressive and darkly comedic. Over the years, the band has seen changes in lineup, with notable contributions from musicians like Mick Mars (Mötley Crüe) on select tracks.

How to Sound Like Murderdolls

Murderdolls' sound is characterized by its raucous, gritty guitar riffs and pounding, relentless rhythms. Their music often fuses the raw energy of punk with the heavy, distorted tones of metal, crafting an atmosphere that is both chaotic and theatrically sinister. Achieving this requires heavily distorted guitars, often using models like the Epiphone Dot for its thick, resonant tone. The drums cut through with precision, aided by tools like the Paiste 22" Heavy Precision Ride, delivering a thunderous backdrop that complements their aggressive style. This combination of elements results in a sound that is both menacing and electrifying, perfect for those looking to capture the essence of horror-infused punk metal.
