About
Mustasch is a Swedish heavy metal band originating from Gothenburg, known for their commanding blend of stoner rock, speed metal, heavy metal, and stoner metal. Formed in 1998, the band consists of Ralf Gyllenhammar (lead guitar, vocals), Hannes Hansson (rhythm guitar), Mats "Stam" Johansson (bass), and Mats "Dojan" Hansson (drums, percussion). Their journey began with a demo recording on the island of Orust, which led to a major-label deal and a series of successful albums, including Above All and Ratsafari. The band has garnered acclaim within the Swedish music scene, earning multiple nominations and wins at the Swedish Grammy Awards.
How to Sound Like Mustasch
Mustasch's sound is rooted in aggressive, riff-driven guitar work that combines the raw edge of speed metal with the rich textures of stoner rock. Achieving their powerful sonic impact often involves the use of high-gain amplifiers and thick distortion pedals to create a dense, heavy tone. Their music is characterized by tight, rhythmic precision and dynamic drumming, delivering a relentless energy that propels their tracks forward. Vocals are typically gritty and commanding, matching the intensity of their instrumental arrangements. To capture the essence of Mustasch's style, musicians might focus on employing tube amplifiers for warmth and saturation, while integrating heavy delay and reverb effects to enhance the depth and presence of their sound.
