Mutoid Man is an American metal band renowned for its energetic fusion of stoner rock, sludge metal, and elements of post-doom metal. Formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 2012, the group originally included members Stephen Brodsky (vocals, guitar) from Cave In and Ben Koller (drums) of Converge. They were later joined by Nick Cageao (bass), a sound engineer from the iconic St. Vitus club, and eventually Jeff Matz (bass) from High on Fire, who joined in 2021. Known for their frenetic and genre-blurring music, Mutoid Man has released several critically acclaimed albums, including Bleeder, War Moans, and Mutants.

Mutoid Man's sound is characterized by its aggressive, high-energy guitar riffs and thunderous rhythm section, creating an intense and visceral sonic experience. The guitar work of Stephen Brodsky is especially notable for its thick, distorted tones, often achieved through the use of equipment like the Boss OS-2 OverDrive/Distortion and the DigiTech XP-300 Space Station. Brodsky's choice of guitars, such as the Gibson S-1 and Aria XXMS Flying V, complements the band's raw and unfiltered sound. The rhythm section, driven by Koller's dynamic drumming and Matz's powerful bass lines, adds a relentless pulse to their music, making their tracks both captivating and physically compelling.
