About
N*E*R*D is an eclectic American musical group that seamlessly blends elements of rock, funk, hip hop, and alternative music into a distinctive and innovative sound. Formed by childhood friends Pharrell Williams (vocals, production), Chad Hugo (keyboards, production), and Shay Haley (drums, vocals), the group emerged from Virginia Beach, Virginia, with their name standing for "No One Ever Really Dies." Known for their genre-defying approach, N*E*R*D has been a creative outlet for its members, particularly Williams and Hugo, who are also acclaimed producers as part of The Neptunes. Their music is characterized by its experimental nature, drawing inspiration from a wide array of influences, from funk-rock to punk and beyond.
