About
Nebula is a pioneering force in the realms of space rock, stoner rock, and doom metal, known for their feedback-drenched, heavy soundscapes. The group was formed in 1997 by Eddie Glass (guitar, vocals) and Ruben Romano (drums) after their departure from the influential band Fu Manchu, later joined by Mark Abshire (bass). This power trio has carved out a niche with their blend of psychedelic influences and sludgy riffs, drawing inspiration from bands like Black Sabbath. With a reputation for hard-driving live performances, Nebula has become a staple in the stoner metal scene, delivering albums such as To the Center and Charged.
How to Sound Like Nebula
Nebula's sound is a rich tapestry of crunchy, fuzz-laden guitar tones and hypnotic, swirling rhythms. The sonic character is both aggressive and immersive, capturing the essence of a cosmic journey through the use of heavy distortion and feedback. Instruments like the Gibson SG Standard and effects such as the Electro-Harmonix "Black Russian" Big Muff Pi V8 fuzz pedal contribute to their distinctively thick and saturated sound. Additionally, the use of wah effects, exemplified by the Dunlop Cry Baby Original Wah-Wah, adds a layer of dynamic expressiveness to their music, enhancing both the psychedelic and heavy elements. The combination of these tools allows Nebula to create a powerful and enveloping auditory experience that is as gritty as it is expansive.
