About
Post Animal is a psychedelic rock band hailing from Chicago, known for their vibrant blend of neo-psychedelic sounds and intricate musical arrangements. The group consists of Dalton Allison (bass, vocals), Jake Hirshland (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Javi Reyes (guitar, vocals), Wesley Toledo (drums), Matt Williams (guitar, vocals), and Joe Keery (formerly guitar, vocals). While Keery left the band in 2017 to pursue acting, his influence remains present in their early work. Post Animal's music draws on elements of classic rock and modern psychedelia, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshingly innovative.
How to Sound Like Post Animal
To approximate Post Animal's sound, focus on rich, layered guitar tones that are often achieved through the use of overdrive and modulation effects. Their sonic character is both dynamic and immersive, featuring harmonized guitar parts and swirling synth textures. Utilizing tube amps can help achieve the warm, vintage feel that underpins their recordings. The rhythm section is tight and propulsive, with groovy bass lines that lock in seamlessly with the energetic drumming, providing a solid yet fluid foundation for their psychedelic explorations. Incorporating analog delay pedals and reverb can add depth and dimension, crafting an expansive listening experience that is both melodic and rhythmically engaging.
