Q and Not U was a dynamic American band that emerged from the vibrant post-hardcore scene in Washington, D.C. Formed in 1998, the group initially consisted of John Davis (drums), Harris Klahr (guitar, vocals), and Chris Richards (bass, vocals). Known for their eclectic blend of emo, post-hardcore, and dance-punk, Q and Not U captured the energy of their predecessors while carving out a unique sonic identity. Their debut album, No Kill No Beep Beep, set the stage for their evolution into a trio after the departure of bassist Matt Borlik. The band's adventurous approach to music, characterized by angular guitar riffs and high-energy performances, made them a staple of the Dischord Records roster.

Q and Not U’s sound is a fusion of raw, rhythmic intensity and melodic experimentation. Their songs often feature jagged, interlocking guitar lines and a percussive drive, embodying the chaotic yet danceable spirit of dance-punk.
