About

Raimundos is a dynamic Brazilian rock band that emerged from Brasília in the late 1980s, blending an eclectic mix of reggae, punk rock, hardcore punk, and Brazilian pop into their sound. Initially formed by Rodolfo Abrantes (vocals, guitar) and Digão (drums, later guitar and vocals), the group also includes Canisso (bass) and Fred Castro (drums). Raimundos became a prominent force in the Brazilian music scene by infusing the raw energy of punk with the rhythmic nuances of Brazilian music, delivering both high-octane anthems and emotionally charged ballads.

How to Sound Like Raimundos

The sound of Raimundos is characterized by its aggressive, punk-driven guitar riffs and energetic, rhythmic drumming, creating a powerful yet melodic sonic experience. Their music often features the crunchy and bold tones of the Gibson SG Standard, used by Rodolfo Abrantes, which is perfect for generating their signature gritty sound. Canisso’s bass work, often enhanced by a Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI and Boss ODB-3 Bass OverDrive, adds a robust, driving foundation that complements the band's dynamic range. The raw, unfiltered energy is further amplified by overdrive effects like the Mesa/Boogie V-Twin, delivering a sound that is both relentless and captivating, perfect for capturing the essence of their intense live performances.
