Over the years, Saga has become a staple in the progressive rock scene, celebrated for their elaborate compositions and dynamic live performances, which have contributed to their enduring presence in the music world.
How to Sound Like Saga
Saga's sound is characterized by complex, melodic arrangements and a rich, textured sonic landscape. Their music often features layered synthesizers and intricate guitar work, blending the lush synthesizer tones of Jim Gilmour's PPG Wave 2.3 and Korg Triton with Ian Crichton's powerful and precise guitar lines. Crichton’s use of the Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus amp contributes to the band’s clean yet resonant guitar tone, balancing clarity with the depth needed for their symphonic elements. Saga's music is defined by a blend of technical proficiency and emotive expression, creating an expansive and engaging auditory experience.
