About
Saigon Kick is an American rock band that emerged from Miami in 1988, known for their eclectic blend of hard rock, glam metal, and glam rock. The band initially consisted of Matt Kramer (vocals), Jason Bieler (guitar, vocals), Tom Defile (bass), and Phil Varone (drums). Over the years, there have been lineup changes, including the addition of Chris McLernon (bass) during their pivotal tour for the album The Lizard. Saigon Kick gained popularity with their self-titled debut and achieved commercial success with their 1992 album The Lizard, which featured the hit single "Love Is on the Way".
How to Sound Like Saigon Kick
Saigon Kick's sound is characterized by powerful, melodic guitar riffs and dynamic vocal harmonies, creating a rich and textured sonic landscape. Their music often balances the aggression of hard rock with the catchy, flamboyant elements of glam metal. To emulate their sound, consider using overdriven tube amps for that robust, warm distortion, combined with chorus and reverb effects to add depth to the guitar tones. The drumming is energetic yet precise, with a focus on driving, rhythmic patterns that complement the bass lines, which are both punchy and melodic. Layering these elements with harmonized vocals can help capture the band's intricate yet accessible style.
