About
Sandwich is a dynamic Filipino rock band that has become a staple in the Pinoy music scene since their formation in 1998. The group was founded by Raimund Marasigan (vocals, guitar), with Diego Castillo (guitar), Mong Alcaraz (guitar, keyboards), Myrene Academia (bass), and Mike Dizon (drums) completing the lineup. Their sound is a vibrant blend of rock, pop rock, and Pinoy indie, making them a beloved fixture in the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) community. Known for their energetic performances and catchy anthems like "Butterfly Carnival" and "Sugod," Sandwich has earned a dedicated following and critical acclaim both locally and internationally.
How to Sound Like Sandwich
Sandwich's sound is characterized by its gritty yet melodic rock vibe, seamlessly combining catchy hooks with a raw, energetic edge. Their music often features distorted guitar riffs and punchy rhythms, creating a driving force that propels their songs forward. The use of effects pedals, such as the Boss TR-2 Tremolo and DigiTech WH-5 Whammy V, adds layers of texture and intensity to their sound. Raimund Marasigan's incorporation of the ZVEX Vexter Box of Rock further enhances their music's aggressive tone, while maintaining a clear and memorable melodic structure. To emulate Sandwich's distinctive style, focus on combining robust guitar effects with dynamic, spirited performances.
