Screaming Trees were a pioneering force in the American rock scene, emerging from Ellensburg, Washington in 1985. The band initially comprised Mark Lanegan (vocals), Gary Lee Conner (guitar), Van Conner (bass), and Mark Pickerel (drums). Later on, Barrett Martin took over on drums during their most prominent years. Often associated with the grunge movement, Screaming Trees skillfully blended elements of psychedelic rock, hard rock, and alternative rock, crafting a sound that set them apart from their contemporaries. They released a substantial body of work, including seven studio albums, and became known for their raw energy and introspective lyrics.
