Shonen Knife is a pioneering Japanese punk rock band, renowned for their infectious blend of bubblegum pop and punk energy. Formed in Osaka in 1981, the group was originally composed of Naoko Yamano (vocals, guitar), Michie Nakatani (vocals, bass), and Atsuko Yamano (drums). Over the years, Shonen Knife has maintained their vibrant, fun-loving approach to music, even as the lineup evolved, with Naoko Yamano remaining as the constant driving force. Their sound encapsulates a variety of genres, including Riot Grrrl, J-Punk, and Japanese pop punk, channeling influences from the Ramones and Beatles while crafting unique songs about everyday subjects like animals and food.
