Shotgun Messiah was a Swedish glam metal band known for their flamboyant style and dynamic shifts in musical direction. Originating from Skövde, Sweden, the group was formed by Tim Skold (bass, later vocals), Harry Cody (guitar), and Stixx Galore (drums), initially under the name King Pin. With the addition of Zinny J. San (vocals), they gained traction with their 1987 single "Shout It Out." After relocating to Los Angeles and rebranding as Shotgun Messiah, they released their self-titled debut album in 1989. Following lineup changes, Skold took over vocal duties, and the band explored various styles, eventually embracing industrial metal in their later work. Despite their musical versatility, Shotgun Messiah disbanded after their 1993 release, Violent New Breed.

Shotgun Messiah's sound is characterized by its aggressive, yet melodic edge, bridging the gap between glam metal and industrial rock. Their early work showcases high-octane guitar riffs and energetic rhythms, drawing on glam metal's flamboyant and theatrical elements. This evolved into a more industrial, gritty sound with dense layers of distortion and electronic textures. The Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer was pivotal in crafting their rich, overdriven tones, while the Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor ensured clarity amidst the chaos. Their live performances often featured a blend of traditional rock instrumentation with digital effects, creating a sound that's both raw and polished.
