About
Sing-Sing is an English dream pop duo formed in the late 1990s by former Lush guitarist/vocalist Emma Anderson and vocalist Lisa O'Neill. Originating from the vibrant London indie scene, the group expanded their lineup for live performances, which included drummer Mig, bassist Shifty, and keyboardist Poppy Gonzalez. Known for their ethereal soundscapes and melodic sensibilities, Sing-Sing has crafted a unique blend of indie pop with lush, atmospheric layers, reminiscent of their influences and contemporaries.
How to Sound Like Sing-Sing
Sing-Sing's music is characterized by its rich, textured sound that balances dreamy, ambient elements with melodic pop structures. Their sonic landscape often features lush guitar tones that are enhanced by modulation and ambient effects, creating a sense of depth and space. Emma Anderson's use of the Fender Jazzmaster and Fender Telecaster Thinline Electric Guitar contributes to the band's signature shimmering tones, often processed through effects like the Boss CH-1 Super Chorus to add a haunting, ethereal quality. The incorporation of digital effects such as the Alesis Quadraverb further enriches their ambient textures, culminating in a sound that is both expansive and intimate.
