About

Slaughter is an American rock band that emerged from the remnants of the Vinnie Vincent Invasion in 1988. Founded by Mark Slaughter (vocals, guitar) and Dana Strum (bass), the group was rounded out with Tim Kelly (guitar) and Blas Elias (drums). Known for their blend of hard rock, glam metal, and sleaze rock, Slaughter carved a niche in the late '80s and early '90s music scene with catchy melodies and Mark's distinctive vocal style. Despite the tragic loss of Tim Kelly in 1998, the band continued to evolve, bringing in guitarist Jeff Blando and releasing new music, thus sustaining their legacy as a staple of the rock genre.

How to Sound Like Slaughter

Slaughter's sound is characterized by energetic and melodic guitar riffs that strike a balance between raw aggression and polished hooks. The use of vintage-inspired overdrive pedals, such as the Ramble FX Marvel Drive 3, helps achieve their gritty yet articulate guitar tones. Mark Slaughter's soaring vocals are a defining element, often underscored by the warm, resonant drive of his Bluesman Vintage Coupe Series Telecaster. The rhythmic backbone provided by Dana Strum's bass, notably the Arbor Flying V Bass, delivers a powerful low-end punch, enhancing the band's dynamic range. Slaughter’s sound is a blend of high-octane energy and anthemic choruses, making their music both captivating and memorable.
