About
Dark New Day is an American rock supergroup formed in early 2005, boasting a lineup of seasoned musicians from various notable acts. The band includes Clint Lowery (guitar/vocals) from Sevendust, Corey Lowery (bass) formerly of Stuck Mojo and Stereomud, Troy McLawhorn (guitar) from Doubledrive, Brett Hestla (vocals/guitar) of Virgos Merlot, and Will Hunt (drums), who has played with Skrape and Tommy Lee. Their music seamlessly blends elements of rock, metal, hard rock, post-grunge, alternative metal, and nu metal, creating a dynamic and powerful sound that draws listeners in with its intensity and energy.
How to Sound Like Dark New Day
Dark New Day's sound is characterized by its aggressive yet melodic guitar work and driving rhythms. The use of PRS guitars, particularly favored by Clint Lowery, provides a rich, full-bodied tone that cuts through the mix. Their guitar tones are often shaped by the potency of amps like the Mesa/Boogie Mark IV and EVH 5150III, delivering a heavy, crunchy texture. Dynamic effects, such as the Dunlop JH1-D Jimi Hendrix Signature Wah and DigiTech Whammy, add layers of expression and depth to their riffs. The punchy, precise drumming from Will Hunt completes the ensemble, driving the band’s hard-hitting rhythm section and complementing their robust, high-energy sound.
