Soft Hair is an experimental pop duo formed by New Zealand psych artist Connan Mockasin and British musician Sam Dust (also known as LA PRIEST). The collaboration began in 2009 when Dust's former band, Late of the Pier, toured with Mockasin. Over the years, they developed their unique sound, culminating in a self-titled debut album released through Weird World Record Co. Soft Hair is characterized by its eclectic blend of psych-pop and avant-garde elements, creating a soundscape that's as intriguing as it is unpredictable.

Soft Hair's sonic palette is marked by its dreamy and playful textures, combining psychedelic influences with quirky pop sensibilities. Their music often features colorful, swirling guitar tones, which are enhanced by Mockasin's use of effects like the Boss CE-3 Chorus and the Electro-Harmonix Graphic Fuzz XO. These effects contribute to the band's lush and vibrant sound, complemented by the analog warmth of the Korg MS-20 synthesizer.
