About

Spotlights is a dynamic musical group originating from Brooklyn, New York, that masterfully blends elements of space rock, post-metal, doomgaze, and shoegaze into their sound. At the heart of the band are Mario Quintero (guitar, synths, vocals) and Sarah Quintero (bass, guitar, vocals), a husband-and-wife duo known for their immersive soundscapes and compelling live performances. Drummer Chris Enriquez completes the trio, adding depth and intensity to their music. Spotlights have been captivating audiences since their debut album Tidals and have shared the stage with influential acts like Deftones and Melvins.

How to Sound Like Spotlights

Spotlights’ music is characterized by its dense, distorted textures and ethereal vocal harmonies, creating a sound that is both aggressive and dreamlike. The guitars often swim in layers of effects, with Mario utilizing a Fender Player Series Stratocaster HSS to craft his vivid, sonic landscapes. Sarah's bass work, enhanced by pedals like the Boss ODB-3 Bass OverDrive, adds a gritty, powerful low end that complements the band's heavier elements. The use of effects pedals, such as the EarthQuaker Devices Bit Commander and the Eventide H9 Max, further enriches their sound, allowing them to explore expansive sonic territories and create their signature blend of melodic and atmospheric metal.
