About
Stone Gods is a British rock band known for their deep melodic hard rock sound, formed by former members of the band The Darkness. After the departure of frontman Justin Hawkins, the remaining members regrouped with Richie Edwards (vocals, formerly bass), Dan Hawkins (guitar), Ed Graham (drums), and newcomer Toby Macfarlaine (bass) to create a harder-edged heavy metal outfit. With powerful riffs and a gritty edge, Stone Gods have carved out a distinctive niche, earning recognition with releases like their debut album Silver Spoons and Broken Bones and singles such as "Burn the Witch".
How to Sound Like Stone Gods
Stone Gods' sound is characterized by its raw, aggressive guitar tones and high-energy delivery. Dan Hawkins' guitar work frequently employs heavy distortion and overdrive, creating a robust and punchy sonic landscape. This vibe is often achieved using gear like the Marshall DriveMaster and Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion, which add layers of crunchy, saturated tones. The band's music often features dynamic, rhythmic propulsion driven by powerful drum patterns and a solid bass foundation, while the use of amplifiers like the Marshall Superlead contributes to their formidable, arena-ready presence. Stone Gods’ sound captures the essence of hard rock with a modern twist, making it both nostalgic and fresh.
