About
Submersed is a Texas-based alternative metal band known for their blend of post-grunge, nu metal, and hard alternative sounds. Formed in 2001 in Ft Worth, the group originally featured Donald Carpenter (lead vocals), Eric Friedman (lead guitar, vocals), Kelan Luker (bass), TJ Davis (guitar), and Garrett Whitlock (drums). Their music often combines heavy, guitar-driven riffs with introspective lyrics, aiming to be a "positive force for change." After an initial run that produced albums like In Due Time and Immortal Verses, the band disbanded in 2008, only to see Carpenter and Luker reunite in 2022, reviving Submersed's compelling sound.
How to Sound Like Submersed
Submersed captures a distinctive sonic vibe characterized by aggressive yet melodic guitar work and dynamic rhythm sections. Their music often features heavy riffs and intricate solos that can be attributed to Eric Friedman's use of PRS McCarty Electric Guitars, which deliver both clarity and depth. The band's sound is further shaped by a robust percussion backbone, utilizing gear like the DW Jazz Series drums for a pronounced yet versatile impact. The rich, layered guitar tones and powerful drumming create a sound that balances raw intensity with polished musicianship, making for an engaging and emotionally resonant listening experience.
