About
The Claypool Lennon Delirium is a psychedelic rock duo formed by Les Claypool (bass, vocals) of Primus fame and Sean Lennon (guitar, vocals), son of John Lennon and member of The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger. Originating from a serendipitous meeting during a Primus tour in 2015, the pair quickly bonded over a shared passion for boundary-pushing music. Their sound fuses elements of psychedelic rock, neo-psychedelic, and touches of prog-rock, marked by their penchant for experimental and abstract compositions. The band's debut album, Monolith of Phobos, and their follow-up, South of Reality, showcase their unique blend of musical influences and innovative artistry.
How to Sound Like The Claypool Lennon Delirium
Capturing the essence of The Claypool Lennon Delirium's sound involves embracing a sonically adventurous and richly textured palette. Their music features intricate bass lines with a distinctive flair, often supported by Claypool’s use of basses like the Rickenbacker 4003 and the Ibanez Musician Bass. Lennon complements this with psychedelic guitar textures and effects, employing gear such as the Electro-Harmonix Mel9 Tape Replay Machine to evoke vintage Mellotron tones. The duo’s sound is further enriched by their use of eclectic effects, creating a kaleidoscopic auditory experience that weaves through layers of melody and rhythm, inviting listeners into their vivid, dreamlike world.
