About
The Dogs D'Amour is an English rock band known for their gritty fusion of hard rock, glam metal, glam rock, glam punk, and sleaze rock. Originating in Birmingham in 1983, the group was initially formed by Tyla (vocals, guitar), Ned Christie (vocals), Nick Halls (guitar), Karl Watson (bass), and Bam Bam (drums). After Christie’s departure, Tyla took over as lead vocalist and the band relocated to London, establishing themselves in the underground rock scene. Despite numerous lineup changes over the years, the band has maintained a cult following in the UK, largely due to their charismatic performances and raw, poetic songwriting.
How to Sound Like The Dogs D'Amour
The Dogs D'Amour's sound is characterized by raucous, gritty guitar riffs and a raw, unpolished sonic texture that captures the essence of the glam rock era with a punk rock edge. Their music often features overdriven guitar tones achieved through the use of tube amplifiers, creating a powerful and aggressive sound. The rhythm section provides a steady, driving backbone that complements the energetic guitar work. Vocals are delivered with a raspy, emotive quality, adding to the band's rebellious and debaucherous vibe. To emulate their sound, musicians should focus on pairing distorted electric guitars with punchy, straightforward drumming and dynamic bass lines, while keeping the overall production raw and energetic to reflect their sleazy rock and roll attitude.
