About
The Tractors are a spirited American band that emerged from the heart of Tulsa, Oklahoma, known for their infectious blend of rockabilly and country rock. This vibrant group, consisting of Steve Ripley (guitarist), Ron Getman (bassist), Casey Van Beek (vocalist), Walt Richmond (keyboardist), and Jamie Oldaker (drummer), captivated audiences in the early '90s with their dynamic sound and engaging performances. Before uniting as The Tractors, each member was a seasoned Nashville session musician, which contributed to their rich, authentic musical style. Their self-titled debut album became a monumental success, fueled by the hit single "Baby Likes to Rock It," and cemented their status as a prominent force in the country-rock scene.
How to Sound Like The Tractors
The Tractors' sound is defined by its rollicking and rootsy character, seamlessly blending the upbeat energy of rockabilly with the storytelling charm of country music. Their music often features crisp, twangy guitar riffs and boogie-woogie piano lines, creating a lively, toe-tapping atmosphere. The drums provide a driving, yet laid-back groove, exemplified by Jamie Oldaker's choice of the Sabian 21" HH Hand Hammered Raw Bell Dry Ride, which adds a distinctive clarity to their rhythm section. The Tractors' inviting and powerful sound is further enhanced by warm, rhythmic bass lines and soulful vocals, making their music both nostalgically familiar and irresistibly danceable.
