About

Therapy? is a Northern Irish rock band formed in 1989, known for their hard-hitting blend of alternative metal and punk influences. The band was founded by Andy Cairns (vocals, guitar), and includes long-standing members Michael McKeegan (bass) and Neil Cooper (drums), who joined in 2002. Originally a trio, Therapy? quickly gained attention for their aggressive sound and introspective lyrics, releasing pivotal albums like Troublegum and Infernal Love that established them as a staple in the rock and alternative music scenes.

How to Sound Like Therapy?

Therapy?'s sound is characterized by its aggressive yet melodic edge, blending gritty guitar riffs with a punk-driven intensity. Their music often features a mix of distorted and clean guitar tones, which Andy Cairns achieves through the use of a Marshall JCM900 4100 amplifier head, providing a powerful and dynamic presence. The raw, rhythmic energy of their tracks is further complemented by the use of Boss DS-1 Distortion, adding a sharp, biting quality to their sound. The driving bass lines and energetic drumming amplify their music's intensity, creating a relentless sonic experience that remains both accessible and visceral.
