Tired Pony is an alternative country and indie folk supergroup formed as a creative outlet by Gary Lightbody, known for his work with Snow Patrol. Originating in 2009, the group brings together a diverse array of talented musicians, including Snow Patrol’s Iain Archer, producer and musician Jacknife Lee, Richard Colburn of Belle & Sebastian, Scott McCaughey of R.E.M., and Troy Stewart. The ensemble expanded with the addition of R.E.M.’s Peter Buck, crafting a rich tapestry of Americana-infused tunes. Their collaborative efforts have resulted in albums that feature contributions from artists like Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, showcasing a dynamic blend of storytelling and musical exploration.
