About
Trio was a German band that emerged from the burgeoning New Wave and Neue Deutsche Welle scenes in the early 1980s. Hailing from West Germany, the group was composed of Stephan Remmler (vocals), Gert "Kralle" Krawinkel (guitar), and Peter Behrens (drums). They were known for their stripped-down, minimalist approach to music, which combined catchy melodies with a stark, industrial edge. Trio gained international fame with their hit single "Da Da Da," which became a defining track of its era and demonstrated their knack for blending simplicity with infectious hooks.
How to Sound Like Trio
Trio's sound is characterized by its minimalist and industrial undertones, which create a raw yet rhythmic sonic landscape. The band's music often features monotone vocals set against a backdrop of punchy, straightforward guitar riffs and steady drum patterns. Their approach focuses on creating a catchy, repetitive groove with a limited palette of sounds, giving their music an almost mechanical feel. Gert Krawinkel's guitar work, often using a Fender Stratocaster, provides a clean yet biting edge that cuts through the mix, while Peter Behrens' drumming anchors the songs with a precise, almost metronomic beat. This minimalist setup, devoid of unnecessary embellishments, is key to capturing the essence of Trio's distinctive sound.
