About

Wand is a dynamic psychedelic rock band hailing from Los Angeles, known for its eclectic blend of garage rock, freak folk, and neo-psychedelic influences. Founded by Cory Hanson (vocals, guitar) and Evan Burrows (drums), the group also features Daniel Martens (guitar) and Lee Landey (bass). Wand began their journey with a gritty, garage-infused sound but have since evolved to incorporate elements of classic rock and modern pop, showcasing their versatility across numerous albums. Their ability to seamlessly weave together melodic and noise-heavy elements has earned them a distinct place within the indie rock landscape.

How to Sound Like Wand

Wand's sonic character is a kaleidoscope of textures, ranging from gritty and raw to expansive and experimental. Their music often features fuzzy, distorted guitar tones, achieved through effects like the Jext TELEZ Dizzy Tone and Dunlop FFM1 Silicon Fuzz Face Mini. These effects, combined with the spacious echoes of the Roland RE-201 Space Echo, create a swirling, atmospheric soundscape. Wand's use of diverse modulation effects and vintage amplifiers, like the Music Man Sixty Five, adds a layer of warmth and depth to their music. This intricate combination of textures and tones captures the band's adventurous and ever-evolving approach to psychedelic rock.
